Monna Maxine Channell Macomber died peacefully underneath the treatment of the West Virginia Caring Hospice Medical center situated in Elkins, West Virginia, on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 11:45 a.m.

Monna was born in Elkins on Sept. 7, 1929, to the late Grover Cleveland and Matie Crawford Channell.

Monna was raised through the depression in Beverly, West Virginia, and attended the Beverly College of which she graduated as Salutatorian of her course in 1947.

She attended Davis & Elkins Faculty for a single 12 months following her substantial college graduation and returned to finish her degree there in the early 1980s, graduating in May well of 1984 with a bachelor’s diploma in Company Management.

Monna married Glenn Dudley Macomber on Nov. 12, 1948, at the Beverly Presbyterian Church. When they have been introduced, by mutual shut close friends, Glenn was launched to Monna as “Garb,” his childhood nickname. Monna always termed him Garb and referred to him as Garb even right after his demise on March 7, 1995.

They have been the dad and mom of two daughters, Nancy Ellen Macomber Smith (Charles) and Ann Elizabeth Macomber Talbott (John), who each endure.

Monna worked at Goldberg’s Division Store, Jack and Jill and Montgomery Wards, in which she was the credit score supervisor, in advance of accepting a posture at Davis & Elkins University in 1981 in the enterprise division from which she retired in September 2002.

Monna, the petite brunette with the significant brown eyes and infectious smile, was identified in Elkins for her sense of type. She normally seemed like she “stepped out of a band box” or stepped out of the webpages of a style journal. She graced the front web page of The Inter-Mountain in Elkins in the 1960s with the caption “The Mini Skirt Comes to Elkins” with a image of her strolling down Third Avenue snapped by the newspaper’s photographer.

Monna’s really like for design and style carried around to her dwelling, where she cherished to decorate and entertain friends and family members. Whether it be a meeting for her Sorority Sisters or the females of Circle No. 6 from the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church or hosting family vacation dinners, no depth was far too tiny to be disregarded. She took great pleasure in her antique-filled home and her wonderful flower gardens encompassing her home. She was pleased to be awarded the Emma Scott Yard of the Month a lot of occasions in the very last 25 many years. Monna was actually an exemplary case in point of grace and poise to her household and all who realized her.

Monna was a member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she been given the Life span Girls of the Church award in 2018. She was also an active member of Circle 6 at DMPC. Monna was a life time member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, remaining a member for over 70 years. During the years not only was she a performing mother, but also a homeroom mother, a volunteer and a mate to quite a few. She will be skipped by many for her rapid wit and friendliness.

Monna was the very last surviving member of each her household and her husband’s.

She is preceded in loss of life by a single brother, William S. Channell.

Also continuing her in demise had been 5 brothers-in-regulation and 5 sisters-in-law.

In addition to her daughters, Monna is survived by four grandchildren, Christopher L. Fizer, Todd A. Fizer, Joseph B. Daft (Sara Bott) and Katherine E. Daft (Christopher Raines).

She is also survived by two terrific-grandsons, Ethan Japheth Raines and Silas Isaiah Raines.

In addition to her household, she is survived by her expensive friend, Arnold Kyle and numerous nieces and nephews.

A non-public graveside support will be held at the American Legion Minor Arlington Cemetery at Elkins, West Virginia.
